General Description:
Cumin is a flowering plant in the family Apiaceae, native from the east Mediterranean to India. Its seeds are used in the cuisines of many different cultures, in both whole and ground form.
Cumin ground has a yellowish-brown color, with a strong, heavy distinctive odor and a warm, aromatic taste. It is cultivated commercially in Turkey, India, Pakistan and China.
Cumin is widely used in cooking, especially in the eastern part. Mainly used cumin plant seeds, ground or as whole seeds. They have a strong bitter, slightly nutty smell, which is amplified when grinding or roasting seeds. It helps to add an earthy and warming feeling to food, making it a staple in certain stews and soups, as well as spiced gravies such as chili. It is also used as an ingredient in some pickles and pastries.


Nutritional value
§łumin seeds contain a relatively large percentage of iron, vitamins A, B, PP, C, E, K, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc, copper and selenium. The composition of cumin seeds contains up to 4% essential oils, they give such a strong spice flavor. Furthermore, its seeds have 16% gums, thymol, aldehyde and alcohol.

Medicinal uses
Regular consumption of cumin useful for insomnia, amnesia, nervous exhaustion, headaches, intestinal colic, cramps, dyspepsia, flatulence, diarrhea, gallstones and kidney diseases, bronchitis, coughs, and also stimulates the appetite and helps to normalize digestion, prevents the formation of blood clots, protects the body from heart attacks and a beneficial effect on the cardiovascular system, activates brain activity and improves vision.
Cumin has a tonic, diuretic and antiseptic, aphrodisiac and helps to eliminate toxins from the body. Drinking cumin helps nausea and bloating in the first months of pregnancy, stimulates lactation in nursing mothers.
